Hello World!

Or at least hello people of New Brunswick, NJ. As a Rutgers student and avid basement show goer, New Brunswick’s large underground DIY scene has always piqued my interest. I am grateful to go to a school in a city that appreciates and celebrates local artists as much as it does.

I have always wished there was a hub where I could find shows, keep up with local artists, and find new ones. There are Facebook groups dedicated to the DIY community but it still requires some digging. So this is the hub I always wished existed because I know the scene can be difficult to navigate especially to those new to New Brunswick and Rutgers.

I am a DJ and Urban Director for one of the radio stations on campus (shoutout to thecore.fm). Finding local artists is literally one of my jobs. Radio is a great way for new upcoming artists to gain recognition so a lot of my time is spent talking to promoters. For better or worse though most people today don’t rely on radio to find new music with streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music becoming the most popular way of consuming music. I want this to be a platform for both show-goers and artists. I want to be able to promote artists I think to deserve more recognition and I want fans to be able to find and stay updated with local music.

Here you shall find links to upcoming shows, reviews of albums and songs, updates on when bands go to tour, and other related content that I think might be useful or important.

Although this site is being created as a class project I intend to make it live even after the semester is over.
